Felix Unlimited
by Andrew Norris

This is such a clever idea. It's a story aimed at readers aged nine upwards and, as such, it's fast paced and engaging with great characters and a good plot. But as we learn about the family life and ambition of young Felix, we are also treated to a basic guide in running a business! This is a celebration of creativity and entrepreneurship in a young person, and it's great!

Felix has forgotten his grandma's birthday and he needs to get a card for her urgently. The shops are shut but he remembers that a friend from school has created some fun pictures of them all and this would make a very special card for his grandma. Indeed she loves it, shows it to all her friends, and Felix suddenly finds himself involved in a venture which could make his fortune.

Until this point family, friends and schoolteachers have all rolled their eyes when they've learnt of the latest project Felix wants to pursue to make money. But this time is different.

Events unfold very quickly and Felix soon has thousands of pounds in a box under his bed. He is forced to make some significant decisions with each new development in the sale of the cards to more and more customers. The reasoning each time is explained clearly and succinctly, just as Felix understands the processes involved. And what's lovely, too, is that Felix is keen to be fair and generous to everyone who helps him along the way - the friends who design the cards, organise the accounts, create the website.

It's a brilliant book. So easy and entertaining to read while also being informative, affirming and inspirational in explaining how to build a business.
