A compelling, tragic tale. Extraordinary.

My review:

Elizabeth has returned to Ireland from America. Her mother has died and there's the house to clear. In doing so, she discovers some letters from the man she was told was her father, the man she has never met.

Elizabeth decides to find out what she can about Edward Foley, but her questions lead to events much stranger and sadder than she could have imagined.

Interwoven with Elizabeth's story is another story, that of Patricia her mother, 40 years earlier. She's a young woman looking for romance but her date isn't what she'd hoped for.

This is an amazing book. I was completely drawn in from a few chapters and couldn't put it down. It's an extraordinary story but authentic and compelling. I loved it and will be trying another by Graham Norton!
