My review:

This is a wonderfully unusual book which handles big issues of grief and loneliness in a young teenage girl with humour and inventiveness.

Suzy Button has lost her mum, and subsequently the life she used to know. Seeking to find solace and hope for the future she goes into the garden in the middle of the night and wishes, under the light of the moon, for things to change.

Suzy and her dad have moved house, seeking to find a new start after the death of Suzy's mum. But her dad has changed and is no longer the fun-loving man Suzy knew. And by moving house, Suzy has left all her friends and has had to make a new start in a school where no one seems to want to get to know her.

But after that night talking to the moon, things change, suddenly and drastically.

A new girl at school, called Rhiannon seems to be the catalyst for lots of exciting, positive things happening in Suzy's life - midnight adventures, beach parties, new friends. And Suzy puzzles over who Rhiannon is - she's unusual, and puzzling, mysterious and mystical.

This is a lovely, upbeat, magical tale which is aimed at the young adult reader, aged 12 upwards. Great!
