Details for 'Human Kindness' by John Francis and illustrated by Josy Bloggs
Human Kindness

The information and inspiration in this book is something we might all like to be reminded of at the moment, but it's aimed at children aged eight years and up.
The author John Francis is known as The Planetwalker for undertaking a journey by foot across the globe to raise awareness of climate change. He has recorded how he was shown great kindness by strangers along the way, and it is this experience which prompted the book.
He describes something of his own story to start but then each colourful spread in the book takes on a different aspect of kindness.
There are famous quotes, ranging from the Dalai Lama 'Be kind wherever possible, it is always possible' to Dolly Parton 'If you see someone without a smile, give 'em yours!'
There are examples of everyday kindness, being kind to yourself, activism, the science of kindness, instances of charity, people through the generations who have impacted us today through their acts of kindness, and much more.
The illustrations throughout are vibrant and engaging, and the text is informative and presented in paragraphs dotted throughout the pictures, so it's easy to dip into and refer to, as well as to read from cover to cover. It's a lovely book which not only stresses the importance of showing kindness, but encourages the reader to put it into practice!
