My review:

This is Rocky's story - she's reached middle age and is keen to hold on to all that life has been so far, while looking forward to the next chapter.

Rocky is actually Rachel (it's her nickname). She's in her 50s, married to Nick, with two grown-up children, Jamie and Willa.

Every year they've spent a week as a family at Cape Cod. This time it feels as though they're on the brink of change. What's more, Rocky's parents are joining them and for her this feels a key moment. Her children are ready to move on, no longer needing her as they did, and her parents are getting more fragile and vulnerable. Meanwhile Rocky herself is having to deal with all the physical and emotional challenges of going through the menopause, and confronting secrets she's hidden for all these years and having to deal with the consequences.

This is a beautiful book. It's short and funny but also perceptive and poignant. I loved it.
